01Is this tavern name generator free, and does it use AI?
It’s free, and you don’t need an account to use it. It doesn’t use AI either. Every name, sign, keeper and rumor comes from tables we wrote, and the generator picks from them at random.
02Can I use these tavern names in my campaign, book or published adventure?
Yes, they’re yours to use, whether that’s at your table, in a novel or in an adventure you sell. The tables are combined at random, so before you publish, do a quick search to make sure your name isn’t already a well-known inn in someone else’s book or game.
03What’s the difference between an inn, a tavern and an alehouse?
In medieval and Tudor England, an alehouse sold ale and not much else, a tavern sold wine and usually food, and an inn offered beds and stabling to travelers. Most fantasy games use the words loosely, so call your place whatever suits it. The What kind of place line tells you what you’ve rolled, from a cellar bar to a coaching inn.
04How do I make a tavern memorable for my players?
Give them one thing to notice at the door and one person they’ll want to talk to. A misspelled sign or a keeper who talks to the barrels does more work than a paragraph of description. When the party comes back, have the keeper remember what they did last time. On LoreWeaver, story memory does that part for you.
05How do I share or save a tavern I like?
Copy the link. The address holds a short code for each line, so anyone who opens it sees exactly the same tavern. You can also copy the result as text and paste it into your notes.
06Can I roll just one line again?
Yes. Every line can be rolled again on its own, so you can keep a name you like and change only the keeper or the rumor. That line’s code in the link changes with it, so the link always brings back the tavern you see.
07How many different taverns can it make?
The name tables alone can build 24,266 different names. Add the sign, the kind of place, the keeper, the menu, the regulars, the room and the rumor, and there are 855,992,693,720,736,000 possible taverns.
