Review · AI game masters

An AI Realm alternative that remembers without notes.

AI Realm runs D&D 5e inspired campaigns with a character sheet, NPC Cards, and GM Guides, and it can seat up to 3 friends at your table, depending on plan. It keeps each campaign in Notes, which its own guide calls the AI’s long-term memory. If keeping those Notes in order has become a second job, this is how LoreWeaver compares.

The short answer

What is the best AI Realm alternative?

LoreWeaver is an AI Realm alternative for solo campaigns that keep their own records. Every 4 replies the storyteller saves memories that name who was involved and where it happened, and before each reply it recalls only the ones that fit the scene, so a long campaign never has to be trimmed by hand. Lorekeeper writes lore cards for new characters and places on every plan, the way you would fill in an NPC Card. Loom templates add health, gold, quests, and dice checks rolled in code. The free plan has unlimited replies from the free storyteller and 25 premium replies a day.

Memory

A campaign that keeps its own records.

AI Realm’s guide puts it plainly: “if it’s not in your Notes, the AI will eventually forget it.” Its AI updates parts of those Notes during play, and a campaign summary refreshes about every 8 messages. All of it shares one context limit, 70,000 characters on the free plan, and when the Notes run over you’re asked to cut them down before you carry on.

LoreWeaver writes its memories every 4 replies, each naming who was there and where. Before each reply it recalls the ones that fit the scene, so the record keeps growing while each reply reads only what matters. The plans keep 30 memories per story on Free, 300 on Plus, 1,200 on Pro, and every one on Ultra and Legendary.

Captain Wren

“You came back,” Captain Wren says, and she keeps the crossbow up. “The last time you stood here you swore the Brennick boys were innocent. Two of them are hanged now, and the third one is asking for you.”

Recalled for this reply

  1. A sworn wordMemory · replies 112 to 115

You swore to Captain Wren that the Brennick brothers had nothing to do with the granary fire.

  2. Captain WrenLore card · written by Lorekeeper

Commands the night watch at Thornwick Keep. Her brother died in the granary fire.

  3. While you were awayMemory · replies 388 to 391

Two of the three Brennick brothers were hanged at the crossroads while you hunted in the hills.

Recalled by meaning and by who is in the scene, from memories the storyteller wrote on its own.

Characters

Cards for new characters, written for you.

AI Realm keeps an NPC Card for each important character, up to 30,000 characters each, inside the same context limit as the rest of your Notes. On LoreWeaver, when someone new keeps coming up, Lorekeeper writes a lore card for them that you keep or dismiss. A card joins a reply when the story names it, or every reply when you pin it, and the LoreMap shows who is linked to whom. Every plan has both.

Questions

Switching from AI Realm.

01What is the best AI Realm alternative?

For solo campaigns, LoreWeaver. It saves memories every 4 replies on its own and recalls the ones that fit each scene, Lorekeeper writes lore cards for new characters and places, and Loom templates add health, gold, quests, and dice checks rolled in code. If you play with friends, AI Realm’s multiplayer is the better fit.

02Does LoreWeaver need notes to remember a campaign?

No. The storyteller writes memories every 4 replies, each naming the people involved and when and where it happened, and recalls the ones that fit each scene next to a recap. You can still read, edit, or pin any memory, and add lore cards yourself whenever you like.

03What happens when a long campaign outgrows the context?

LoreWeaver doesn’t load everything into every reply. It recalls the memories and lore cards that fit the scene, so the campaign’s record can keep growing without you trimming anything. The plans keep 30 memories per story on Free, 300 on Plus, 1,200 on Pro, and every one on Ultra and Legendary. AI Realm asks you to cut your Notes down when they pass its context limit.

04Can I move my AI Realm campaign to LoreWeaver?

By hand. LoreWeaver doesn’t read AI Realm files, so copy your character data, NPC Cards, and GM Guides into lore cards, which hold up to 20,000 characters each, and start a new session in a world you describe to the world builder.

05Does LoreWeaver use D&D rules?

Not a full 5e ruleset. The Loom adds the pieces most campaigns use: skill checks that roll 1d20 against DC 12, attribute checks with Strength, Agility, and Wits, dice combat with health bars, and trackers for gold, quests, and inventory. If you want a 5e character sheet, AI Realm has one.

06Can I play LoreWeaver with friends?

Not in the same story. Each story is played by one person. You can publish a world to the Hub so friends play their own run of it.

07Which AI models does LoreWeaver have?

42 models under their own names, including Claude, GPT-6, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, and Kimi. Free accounts get a fast free storyteller with no daily limit and 25 premium replies a day.

08How much does LoreWeaver cost?

LoreWeaver is free to start, then Plus $7.99, Pro $14.99, Ultra $24.99, and Legendary $49.99 a month. Every plan includes memory, Lorekeeper, the LoreMap, the Loom, and voice calls.

09Is there a LoreWeaver phone app?

Yes. LoreWeaver has a free Android app on Google Play, with an iPhone app coming soon. It also runs in any phone or desktop browser, and your campaigns are saved to your account, so you can switch devices partway through a session.

10Is LoreWeaver uncensored?

For adults, yes. Accounts are 18+, mature and dark themes between adult characters are allowed, and a short list of hard limits in the community guidelines applies everywhere. Stories stay private unless you publish a world.
