A want
Give them something to chase.
A character who wants something walks into every scene with a reason to act. Write the want into the description, then the secret that complicates it.
Describe a character in a few lines and the storyteller fills in the rest: a name, a personality, a voice, and a greeting in their own words. Give them a portrait and a world of people around them, then play stories that remember every promise.

A hooded cartographer who maps cities just before they fall. Patient, dry, impossible to rush; kind to strangers, merciless to liars, and never says how he knows.

He doesn’t look up from the map. “You came in by the north gate. Pity. It won’t be standing by spring.”
Lore cards
Your persona
Mara Quill, a courier who owes him a map
The short answer
Describe a character in a few lines and LoreWeaver’s storyteller fills in the rest for you to edit: a name, a description of their personality and past, the style rules that hold their voice, and a first greeting in their own words. Add a portrait, up to 10 greetings to start stories from, and lore cards for the people and places around them, or import a Tavern character card from SillyTavern, Chub, or Janitor AI instead. Creating characters is free on every plan, and every story you play with one keeps memories and a running recap.

The craft
A want
A character who wants something walks into every scene with a reason to act. Write the want into the description, then the secret that complicates it.
A voice
Rhythm, vocabulary, the things they never say. Style rules hold a voice steady, and a few lines of sample dialogue there teach it faster than any list of adjectives.
A first line
A greeting that drops the player into a moment gives them something to answer. Write several, and each new story can begin somewhere different.
A world
Lore cards for the sister, the old employer, the city that burned. Each one joins the scene when its name comes up, so the character’s past carries weight.
Limits
Boundaries make a character believable. Write them into the style rules, which the storyteller reads before every reply, and they hold across a long story.
Memory
Memories and a running recap carry what happened between you, so trust has to be earned and a grudge can last. A character who remembers can change.
Field by field
Describe the character and the storyteller fills in a name, a description, a tone, style rules, and one greeting. Everything after that is yours to rewrite, extend, or cut.
{{char}} and {{user}} work in the description, style rules, lore, and greetings, so a greeting can call whoever plays by the name they chose.
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Character idea | A few lines about who they are, for the storyteller to build from. |
| Character image | Their portrait in your library and the Hub. Upload one, or generate it on Pro and up. |
| Name | Who they are, and what {{char}} becomes wherever it appears. |
| Description | Personality, looks, history, and how they treat people. Read before every reply. |
| Tone & genre | The mood of every scene, from dry comedy to gothic dread. |
| Style rules | How they speak and what they never do. The voice the storyteller holds. |
| Starters | Greetings in their words. Each starts a new story, and you pick the one to begin with. |
| Lore cards | The people, places, and secrets around them, recalled when named. |
| Persona | Who you are in the story. The storyteller always sees it. |
Importing instead
Drop a Tavern card from SillyTavern, Chub, Janitor AI, or RisuAI, as a PNG, JSON, or CHARX file. The definition becomes the description, every greeting becomes an opening, sample dialogue joins the style rules, and the lorebook becomes lore cards.
It arrives as a character of your own, with a first story already open on the card’s first greeting.
Drop a character card
PNG, JSON, or CHARX cards from SillyTavern, Chub, Janitor AI, RisuAI, and any app that uses the Tavern format.
Read in your browser. Nothing is uploaded until you import.
