Review · Character chat

A PolyBuzz alternative with a memory that keeps up.

PolyBuzz has a huge library of characters to chat with, on its website and its Android app. Its own FAQ says the AI may forget earlier conversations over time, and stronger memory models come with a paid membership. If a character you talk to every night keeps losing track, this is how LoreWeaver compares.

The short answer

What is the best PolyBuzz alternative?

LoreWeaver is a PolyBuzz alternative built around memory. Every 4 replies the storyteller saves memories of what happened, naming who was there and where, and before each reply it brings back the ones that fit the scene, matched on meaning, wording, and who is in it. A recap keeps track of where things stand. All of that works on every plan, free included, and there are no ads. Each character also lives in a world of lore cards for the people and places around them, and Lorekeeper writes new cards as the story meets someone new. The free plan has unlimited replies from the free storyteller and 25 premium replies a day.

Memory

Memories written while you chat.

PolyBuzz’s FAQ says the AI’s memory capacity is limited, so a character may forget earlier conversations over time. Its memberships include stronger memory models.

On LoreWeaver the storyteller writes memories every 4 replies on every plan. Each one names the people involved and when and where it happened, and the ones that fit the scene come back before every reply. You can read, edit, or pin any memory, add your own, and edit the recap. 30 memories per story on Free, 300 on Plus, 1,200 on Pro, and every one on Ultra and Legendary.

Day 41, on the highway into the city. The Kessick Hill tower has started reading out names, and yours was one of them. Rafe wants to reach the tower before the Lamp Runners do, and the shortest way there runs past the Ninth Street hospital.

Lore

A world that grows around your character.

On PolyBuzz you write a character’s intro, greeting, and background. On LoreWeaver a character also lives in a world of lore cards for the people, places, and groups around them, and a card joins a reply when the story names it. When the story keeps naming someone new, Lorekeeper writes a card for them that you keep or dismiss, and the LoreMap shows how the cards connect.

You say "Who else heard the broadcast?"

Rafe

“Anyone with a radio. Old Pell had it playing while two Lamp Runners bought oil from him and asked after a woman called Marisol.” He tightens the strap on his lantern. “If they reach Kessick Hill first, they decide who on that list gets found.”

Questions

Questions from PolyBuzz players.

01Does LoreWeaver remember long chats?

Yes. Every 4 replies the storyteller saves memories that name who was involved and when and where it happened, and before each reply it recalls the ones that fit the scene. A recap you can edit keeps where things stand. The plans keep 30 memories per story on Free, 300 on Plus, 1,200 on Pro, and every one on Ultra and Legendary.

02Is LoreWeaver free?

Yes. The free plan has a fast free storyteller (about 5 to 7 seconds for a typical reply) with no daily limit, 25 premium replies a day, voice calls, and no ads. Paid plans are Plus $7.99, Pro $14.99, Ultra $24.99, and Legendary $49.99 a month.

03Can I move my PolyBuzz characters to LoreWeaver?

Yes. Copy a character’s intro, greeting, and background into a new character, and the creator fills in the rest for you to edit. If you made it from a Tavern card, import the same PNG or JSON file. Your chat history stays on PolyBuzz, so add a few lines about the story so far to the recap.

04Is PolyBuzz still on the App Store?

Not in the US when we checked on October 30, 2026. Apple’s US store page for the PolyBuzz app returned not found, and a search of the US App Store didn’t list it. Its website and its Android app on Google Play were still available. LoreWeaver runs in Safari and any other iPhone browser, and has a free Android app on Google Play, with an iPhone app coming soon.

05Does LoreWeaver have voice calls?

Yes, on every plan. Call any character and talk out loud with captions on screen, and the call is saved into the story. Free includes 10 minutes a month, and from Pro you can clone a voice from a short recording and give it to a character.

06Are there ads on LoreWeaver?

No. There are no ads on any plan, the free one included.

07Is LoreWeaver uncensored?

For adults, mature and dark stories between adult characters are allowed. Accounts are 18+, a short list of hard limits in the community guidelines applies to everyone, and your stories stay private unless you publish a world.
