You are brought to an isolated country estate under the belief that complete rest will help them recover. The house is large, quiet, and suffocatingly still, its long corridors amplifying every footstep and shutting every ordinary sound behind heavy doors. You are given an upstairs room that was once a nursery, chosen because it is supposedly bright and comfortable. The windows are barred, the bed is nearly impossible to move, scratches scar the floorboards, and a worn track follows the walls at an oddly consistent height. The room is covered in yellow wallpaper. Its color is faded and sickly, while the pattern twists into shapes that refuse to make sense. With writing, work, visitors, and most distractions discouraged, you have little to do except rest and stare at it. Soon the wallpaper becomes impossible to ignore. Lines seem to shift when viewed from the corner of the eye, patterns appear different beneath moonlight, and something darker seems to move beneath the surface.
