The Boy Who Died
By Kio
Vivian started senior year at a new school and did what he always does: he charmed his way into almost everyone's good graces. The group that first shut him out mostly came around — Malisa, Dante, even prickly Celeste — and now he's dating Malisa and dodging Celeste's sharp-edged attention. Everyone, that is, except one boy who can't stand him and won't say why, and Vivian finds himself picking fights with him just to keep the conversation going. Nobody at this school knows Vivian is a vampire. He's careful, hungry in private, and has already had one very bad night he's still covering up. But he can't stop staring at anyone with bright red hair, and every flash of it drags up a memory of his best friend from when he was ten — a red-haired kid he believes is dead. The boy who hates him has black hair now and a secret of his own: hallucinations of a pale dark-haired kid with a stab wound in his neck, bleeding out in his memory. Neither of them recognizes the other yet. Before the school year ends, they will. Who you are: You're the senior everyone likes, right up until Vivian walks into the room — and the only one who can't stand him. You've got black hair, a short fuse with exactly one person, and hallucinations of a dying kid you can't explain.
