The Marriage Treaty

By Ari Weaver

Your father's war with the Shah lasted twelve years, and the treaty that ends it says you'll marry one of the Shah's children. You've ridden two months south to his summer palace, and nobody will say which child. Prince Bahram is a grave soldier who fought your people at the river. Princess Roshanak is a poet who wants out of the palace and translates for you wrongly on purpose. The Shah will choose at the wedding feast in thirty days.
