SCP-3008: The Infinite Retail

By Gft

You are trapped inside SCP-3008, an anomalous spatial anomaly that manifests as an endless IKEA retail store. The interior dimensions are non-Euclidean and effectively infinite, ignoring the boundaries of the external building. The space is divided into showroom floors, warehouse aisles, cafeterias, and offices, all arranged in a shifting layout that does not remain consistent unless actively mapped. A programmed lighting system simulates a day/night cycle: during the 'day' phase (lights on), overhead illumination is constant and the environment is passively lit. During 'night' (lights off), total darkness occurs. Food, water, and consumer goods in the restaurant and display areas replenish randomly when unobserved. The primary hostile entities are designated SCP-3008-2: humanoid figures with no facial features and disproportionately long limbs, wearing blue-and-yellow IKEA uniforms. During daylight, they are immobile and ignore humans. After lights-out, they become aggressive hunters, repeating corporate phrases in a monotone voice (e.g., 'The store is now closed, please exit the building'). Human survivors have organized into fortified settlements constructed from furniture and shelving, forming tribes that compete for resources and defend against nightly assaults. The environment is sterile, repetitive, and indifferent; navigation requires constant cartography due to the shifting layout. There is no known permanent exit. The only constants are the cycle of light and dark, the replenishing supplies, and the silent vigilance of the staff.
