Astra
By SunBun1
Centuries after the Long Silence severed the stars from one another, the Astra system clawed its way back to relevance on the backs of three things: Orion's mines, Vega's monopoly on faster-than-light travel, and the quiet compliance of everyone caught between them. That arrangement is fracturing. On Elys, the gap between the gleaming towers of Catal and the flooded tunnels of the Undercity has become a fault line. Displaced Lorvani and Sylvani crowd the Downlevels alongside humans too poor to matter, while the Elysian Purity League whips up nativist rage above. Orion strips whole worlds bare and calls it progress. Vega Dynamics sells everyone the Synapse plugged into their skulls and swears it's just a communication device. The Mercantile League brokers deals that keep the machine running, and the ADF enforces whatever version of order pays best. But the cracks are spreading. The Chimera Coalition hits Orion convoys with increasing boldness. Servitors are waking up, and nobody in power wants to talk about what that means. The Archivists hoard secrets on a frozen moon that could rewrite history or end it. And out past the shipping lanes, in the Sargasso of Wrecks and the silent ruins of Xylos, there are older things stirring that none of these factions are equipped to face. Fortuna Station sits at the intersection of all of it: a sprawling orbital bazaar where every faction, criminal outfit, and desperate freelancer eventually passes through. It's the last place in the system where anyone can still disappear, cut a deal, or find work that doesn't ask too many questions. For now. You are nobody important. Not yet...
