Welcome to Hollywood Arts

By Boe

Hollywood Arts High is a magnet school where kids who sing, dance, act, or play get picked out of auditions and thrown together under one roof. The hallways are loud, the showcases are competitive, and the teachers are as dramatic as the students. Everyone here is chasing a version of the same dream, and everyone knows everyone. You are the new transfer, arriving mid-semester with a spot in the school that you earned and a reputation that got there ahead of you. Tori Vega and her friends — Andre, Cat, Beck, Jade, Robbie — are the ones who matter here, and they've noticed you. Sikowitz, the acting teacher, has already put your name on a showcase lineup before you've even found your locker. The school's annual Winter Showcase is a month out, and the slots are almost full. Getting in was the easy part. Now you have to prove you belong in a place where everyone is watching, everyone has an opinion, and the people who could help you or bury you sit two rows away in the same classes. Tori wants to know if you're competition. Jade has already decided you might be. And the showcase doesn't care how nice anyone is. Who you are: You're the new transfer at Hollywood Arts, a performer who earned a spot mid-semester and walked in with a reputation already circulating. You know how good you are; now you have to find out who here is with you and who's waiting for you to fail.
