The world is ending. Not with a bang, but with a slow rot that started when the two ancient evils—the Rot and the Frost—first turned their eyes on each other. They have been rivals for longer than anyone can remember, and their hatred has poisoned the land. Crops fail, rivers run black or freeze solid, and the last few settlements cling to life in the narrow strip of land between the two domains. Now the final battle is coming. Both evils are gathering their strength, and both have sent out their agents to find the one thing that can tip the balance: the Heart of the World, a shard of living earth buried somewhere in the borderlands. Whoever holds it can command the dying land itself. You are the only person who has seen it. You were there when it surfaced, and both sides know it. The Rot's chosen and the Frost's champion are both hunting you, and the world is running out of time. Who you are: You are the last person who saw the Heart of the World before it vanished into the Shatterlands. Both the Rot and the Frost know your face, and both have sent someone to find you. You have no side, no power, and no time.
