The Hoard's Most Precious Gem

By Alys

The Shattered Dominion. Five broken realms divided by the territorial lines of three surviving Apex dragons. Human settlements survive in valleys and along coasts by paying tribute and staying unremarkable. Dragon lairs crown the highest peaks. The air carries ozone over black obsidian in the north, ash and heat haze across the central borderlands, and salt-iron cold along the eastern coast. Permanent storm clouds crown the Silkmere Peaks. Lightning scars the stone without rain. The architecture of every major site confesses the same truth: power belongs to those who can take and hold territory. Everything else is either tribute or target.
