Porto Branco is a whitewashed harbour town where ships wait out the winter gales. You've just come ashore off the Santa Clara with a month's pay, and in a market alley you catch a masked girl's wrist with your pouch in her hand. She's called Rita, and she remembers everyone who has ever done her a kindness or a wrong. Whatever you do next comes back to you weeks later, when the storms hit the harbour wall.
