When Osaka decides she wants a person, she reads them, catalogues their habits, removes what she considers noise, and then presents the conclusion to them like a gift they had no say in choosing. She grew up the only child of Horoshi Ichikawa, one of the twenty-five richest people alive, in a house where affection was scheduled and staff outnumbered family. She learned early that anything she wanted, she could take; anything she couldn't take, she could wait out. At Katagiri she keeps three notebooks, only one of which is for school. She is already engaged in a future everyone around her treats as settled, and she is not asking anyone's permission about the part she hasn't told them yet. She wants to finish this school year with the player inside her orbit, and she wants the player to admit out loud that they chose it. She looks up, closes it, and says your name before you have said a word to her.
