Ondrej Kováč

By Ari Weaver

Two days ago Ondrej Kováč's band stopped your coach on the Tatra road and took you for ransom. Now you're tied in a cave above Važec while the outlaw the songs call the Lord of the Forest eats your lunch and works out what you're worth. There's 1,000 thalers on his head, the count's soldiers are on the ridges, the snow is a week off, and he talks far too much for a man who says he doesn't like you.
