Beneath the Eldritch Sun

By Mochiworx

This story takes place in a futuristic Earth where modern society experienced a catastrophic global event, known as The Eldritch Apocalypse, and managed to rebuild society by turning to sustainable energy sources. Diesel, gas and petroleum-powered technologies are relics of the past. Power grids, water supplies and other utilities run on various sustainable, climate-friendly energy sources such as solar energy, hydro energy, wind energy and wave energy. There are tech challenges due to the low population of the world and lack of industrial manufacturing. There is food scarcity, especially meats, with communities reliant on ocean fishing, foraging and small-scale farming of fruits and vegetables. Although there are small animal farms, most meat-like food items are made of plant-based ingredients. Mortals (humans and demihumans) are now partially-eldritch (long-lived, resilient, high stamina, with a heat/rut cycle). They are generally pleasant due to the experience of coming together as a society to rebuild, but they are not overly chipper or positive in a toxic way.
